Enabling Manual Attendance Grading¶
The UD Attendance tool allows instructors to enter attendance scores for each student. These grades are automatically sent to the Canvas Gradebook, listed in an assignment column called UD Attendance.
To enable attendance grading¶
- Navigate to the UD Attendance tool in your Canvas course.
- Click on the gear icon at the top right of the page.
- In the tray that opens from the right side of the page, click on the Grading tab.
- Check the box next to Enable Grading.
-
You may choose to display the grades as points (using a defined point value) or percentage (out of 100%). However, you will still need to set a point value for the grades to assign. Under the Total Points heading that appears, enter the number of points you want students' attendance grades to be worth in your course.
- This setting determines how grades are entered and displayed within the learning app only. Go to your assignment settings in Canvas to ensure the Display Grade As function matches your selected grading option. This will not update automatically.
-
Click on the Save Grading button.
