Change topic selector settingsΒΆ

To change settings in Topic Selector:

  1. Navigate to the Topic Selector app in your Canvas course.
  2. Click the gear icon in the upper right-hand corner.

  3. Adjust the available settings:

    • Number of Topics Each Student Can be Assigned To: This sets how many topics a student can select. The default is 1.
    • Prevent students from seeing other students' selections: When unchecked (default), students can see other students' selections. Check this option to hide student names.
    • Students may not change their topic selections: When unchecked (default), students can change their selections at any time unless restricted by a date or time. Check this option to lock in their initial selection.
    • Lock all signups at this date and time: This sets a deadline after which students can no longer select a topic.
    • Request additional information from the student: This requires students to provide extra information when selecting a topic.

  4. When you are finished, click Save App Settings.

  5. Enable the Allow students to select topics toggle in the upper-right corner to allow students to select topics.
