Add a topic

In the Topic Selector tool, your topic will be the slot you want students to sign up for. For example, if your topic set is named "American Songwriter Presentations", you can have the topics named "Dolly Parton", "Whitney Houston", etc.

To add topics:

  1. Navigate to the Topic Selector app in your Canvas course.
  2. Click on the + Add Topic icon in the upper right-hand corner, or the + icon next to a topic set.
  3. Enter the topic details:

    • Topic Title: Enter a name for the topic.
    • Description (optional): Provide additional details to help students understand the topic.
    • Slots Available: Set the number of students who can select this topic.
    • Topic Set: Choose the topic set where this topic will be added.
    • Date/Time (optional): Set a deadline for selecting this topic.
  4. Click Save to create the topic.

Edit a topic

To edit a topic:

  1. Navigate to the Topic Selector app in your Canvas course.
  2. Click on the kabob (three dots) icon next to the topic.
  3. Click Edit.
  4. Make your changes, then click Update.

Delete a topic

To delete a topic:

  1. Navigate to the Topic Selector app in your Canvas course.
  2. Click on the kabob (three dots) icon next to the topic.
  3. Click Delete.
  4. In the confirmation window, click Delete again to confirm.

Return to the main Topic Selector page.
