Grade students' quick quiz answers

Quick Write only populates with the names of users who have submitted to the learning app. If there are missing students that you want to apply 0s to, you can apply them directly in Speedgrader or the Canvas gradebook.

Display grades

Quick Quiz now allows you to choose points or percentage as the grade display type. To choose or change the display grade:

  1. Navigate to the Quick Quiz app wherever you have installed it in your Canvas course.
  2. Click on the Grade link in the top menu bar.

  3. Choose your display grade type. By default, it is percentage, but you may select the Use point-based grading box to choose the grade to display as points. When you make a selection, click Save Grading Type.

    • This setting determines how grades are entered and displayed within the learning app only. Go to your assignment settings in Canvas to ensure the Display Grade As function matches your selected grading option. This will not update automatically.

Grade individual students' responses

Quick quiz questions are auto-graded, but the grade can be modified. To view students' quick quiz answers and change the grade:

  1. Navigate to a Quick Quiz assignment in your Canvas course.
  2. On the Quick Quiz landing page, click on the Grade tab.
  3. Click on a student's name.
  4. Under the Percentage or Points heading, enter the modified score.
  5. (Optional) Provide comments to the student in the Instructor Note To Student text box.
  6. Choose whether to send a copy of the grade and comments to the student's email address.
  7. Click on the Save button.

Note: if you make any modifications to any grades, or change the grade display type, be sure to to click Re-send grades to Canvas to fully sync the grades.

Bulk grading

You may assign grades and feedback in bulk using the Assign Grades button. You must assign to all students, and all existing grades and comments will be overwritten.

  1. Click on the Grade link in the top menu bar.
  2. Click Assign Grade.
  3. Enter feedback and grades.
  4. When finished, click Assign Grade.

Note: if you make any modifications to any grades, or change the grade display type, be sure to to click Re-send grades to Canvas to fully sync the grades.
